The Williams: January

It's crazy to think a month has already past. Where is the time going?

January was very hectic; mostly on the personal level, not professional. We're trying to get the house organized for the new baby and everything that goes into that has been an ordeal. Nothing to fret about though, it will all come together soon.

Avery had a great January. She attended Soccer Tots every Saturday morning which she loved. The session is over now, but we'll probably pick it back up this summer after we finish swim lessons. She went to Rainbow Kids Club a couple of Saturday nights so Jason and I could have a date night. Again, Avery loves it. She just loves being out of the house doing stuff.

She had a follow-up apt. with her ENT and for the first time EVER, she passed her hearing test. She is free and clear of ear infections, fluid behind the ears and future (frequent) visits to the ENT. She is a healthy girl getting bigger by the day. She is still very needy, yet very independent. "No, I do that" is probably something she says most often, but yet you have to be standing right there with her. She is not into self-play or doing anything by herself, yet wants to do everything for herself. Does that even make sense?!

She picks out her clothes every single day and keeps about the same 10 items in rotation. She has all these cute outfits in her closet that she refuses to wear and it's not worth the battle. I called her a tomboy the other day and she quickly corrected me stating she was a princess. She is letting me put her her in ponytails now though. Two, "because that's what Dana wears". (Who the hell is Dana?)

Her favorite color is still yellow, but it is now also pink. She still will not eat a veggie (simply refuses), but is more open to trying new things. Since New Years she has discovered syrup for her pancakes and ketchup. (Thanks Maddie!) She also thinks it's so fun to eat her own bowl of cereal.

Jason went to Vegas for one weekend in January with Randy, so Avery and I went to the Holcombes' beach house with Stephanie and Maddie. The girls had a blast. It was too cold to hit the beach, but we did go to the park where they learned to seesaw. They were also treated to healthy foods such as pizza, chicken nuggets & fries and cinnamon rolls. You gotta do what you gotta do when you're a single parent for the weekend.

I was repaid for Jason's Vegas weekend with a day at the spa with the Heights Kids Group ladies (sub-group). It's such a great tradition we started for ourselves and an awesome way to keep in touch with the mommas who started all of this family biz the same time as us.

One night I told her to go get her clothes off for bath. She told me she wanted to wear them in the tub. She was gone for less than a minute and this happened. (Yes, I left my child unsupervised near a tub of water).
