We made it through a whirlwind December. We had tons of Christmas parties and holiday celebrations this year and it was so much fun watching Avery enjoy the season.
We started the month off with breakfast with Santa. Avery was all about the breakfast, especially the donut holes, but not so much about Santa. We did manage to get a picture with him though and she told him she wanted Olaf and a reindeer for Christmas.
We had my company party, our Lights in the Heights party and a tacky sweater party. What I discovered while I was pulling pictures for this post, is we're really bad about taking pictures unless it's of Avery. New Year's Resolution - take more pictures? Maybe.
Our Lights in the Heights party was a success, but next year I might skip the walking and just continue the party at the house.
We visited Santa's Wonderland again with the Holcombes. Avery and Maddie wore matching dresses and looked adorable. Those two girls are so stinking cute together and the best of friends.
We had several Christmas celebrations. First, we Skyped with Nana and Uncle Brad on Christmas Eve. Christmas morning Avery opened all the gifts Santa brought here and then we went to Pflugerville to spend the next few days with Dee, Pops, Uncle Brett & Uncle Caleb. We were lucky enough to see other aunts, uncles and cousins this year too which is always nice.
Avery at first didn't think Santa visited our house. He drank all of his milk, but only ate 2 1/2 of the 3 cookies we left out for him. We had to explain to her that he was probably full because he eats a lot of cookies that night at other children's homes.
For New Year's Eve we went to the Holcombes' beach house in Galveston. The girls had a countdown of their own earlier in the evening and then set off "fireworks". After the girls went to bed we had a fun game of poker and called it a night shortly after midnight. A perfect way to ring in the new year.
Finally our big announcement, if you don't already know, is we're expecting another baby girl. Due date is June 4th and Avery is so excited to get a baby sister (mostly because Maddie is getting one too).
For the next few months we're going to enjoy what little time we have left as a family of three and try and squeeze in a few trips. Jason has Vegas and Jackson Hole planned and I have a trip to NYC planned. Then I think we'll take our last trip, before I can no longer travel, back to Grand Caymans. Sounds like a perfect place to relax before round two begins.
Happy New Year!!
