Rainbow Party

Avery turned two!  I think this is the time when I stop counting her age in months and start counting in years. I have no idea where the past two years have gone, but I do know it's been fun.  

For Avery's birthday we had a rainbow themed birthday party for her at our house. We intentionally kept it small because she is still at the age where she doesn't really know what is going on.  (For example, her party was 9 days ago and she is still opening presents because she does about one a day).   We invited her play group and a few other close family friends.  Unfortunately the day of the party Avery was sick, we had to take her to the doctor where we received the diagnosis of "it may or may not be Croup.  She may or may not be contagious".   Lovely!!  I spent a lot of time planning for this party and we were having it!  We called all of the guests and gave them the news leaving it up to them if they wanted to come or not.  Luckily, Avery has the best friends in the world and most showed up.  (for the record, no one got sick).

I spent the weeks leading up to Avery's party perusing Pinterest.  Man that website is dangerous when you have an idea in your head.  My crafting skills are improving but nothing compared to my amazing Aunt Kandy and mom who helped with the decor and dresses.  Thank you both!!

I spent so much time on the popcorn containers and water bottles and didn't even get a close up picture.  Bummer! 

As for Avery she is an absolute joy.  She is so happy and full of life.  Always smiling, which in turn makes us always smile.  She is 34.4" in height (75%) and 28lbs, 12.8 oz (76%).  She still hates her veggies but the doctor says that's okay. It's just more work for me because I have to find sneaky ways to get them in her food.  She loves pizza, crackers, cheese and anything that looks familiar.  She is a very picky eater and makes up her mind she doesn't like it before she even tastes it.  

She is still very much in the baby doll phase and got a new doll (Raggedy Ann) for her birthday.  She calls her Anna.  She is always caring around Reese and Anna now.  We gave her a bounce house for her birthday which she loves too.  

Lastly, the week before A's birthday we had our first sleepover.  Maddie stayed the night while we went out to dinner with Randy & Stephanie (and the other HKG parents).  The sitter said the girls had a blast.  The next morning Avery woke up first and was very excited to learn Maddie was still there.  She had to go in with me to get her out of bed.  Here they are at breakfast:
