Welcome home Avery Harper Williams

Well we have been home with Avery now for 9 days and I've been trying to find the time to update this blog every single day since then.  Everyone that told me how busy we were going to be was so right!  I should have listened more.

Avery Harper arrived Friday, May 4th at 1:50 p.m.  She weighed 7 lbs. 4 oz and was 20 inches long.  Labor and delivery were pretty easy (thanks to the epidural) and the whole experience truly was amazing.  Seeing Avery and holding her for the first time was incredible - she was so tiny.

Since we've been home we've had a lot of support from Nana, Pappa Stretch and DeeDee.  We've also had friends swing by for dinner drop-offs which have been much appreciated.  It's definitely been a crazy week and a lot of trial and error.  Avery is a very sweet and calm baby though and we couldn't ask for a better little girl.  We are tired but loving every minute of parenthood.

Feeding has been a challenge but were working it out.  And no one ever talks about the recovery of child birth - not cool!  I should have been forewarned.  Today we had our first professional photo shoot.  Avery was a rock star.  She was so cooperative and the pictures are going to be great.  Hopefully we'll have them within 2-3 weeks.

Finally, Dexter is doing well.  He definitely has figured out things are different, but he is taking a back seat and letting us figure things out.  He seems a bit more calm and very protective of Avery.  Wherever she goes, he goes.  It's very cute.  We're still trying to give him the love and attention he is used to though, but you can tell he realizes things are not the same.  Hopefully he'll adjust a little better over the next few weeks and get his energy back.

Below are a ton of pictures from the last week.  If you didn't receive a copy of the album of all the pictures and want to see it, email me.
